The Centre of the Contemporary History of Catalonia was founded by Decree 80/1984, approved by the Executive Council of the Government of Catalonia on 3 March 1984. Since 1985, the CHCC has been attached to the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia and is currently housed in the Palau de Mar, sharing the premises and services with the Museum of the History of Catalonia.
