Elections to the Parlament de Catalunya

As a result of the promulgation of the Statute of Self-government, elections to the Parlament de Catalunya were held on 20 March 1980. The CiU (Convergence and Union) coalition obtained a relative majority of the votes. Heribert Barrera, from ERC, was elected president of the Parlament, and Jordi Pujol, of CiU, was elected president of the Generalitat.
