The Electric Years.
Electricity and Industrial Diversification
Immigration

The Catalan countryside was incapable of providing more manpower for industry and the first immigrants from Valencia and Aragon began to arrive. During the 1920s, immigration increased with the big construction works begun in Barcelona. At this time, most of the immigrant population was from Murcia and eastern Andalusia, the south-east of the Peninsula. These people settled in the newly-built neighbourhoods of Torrassa and Collblanc and in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The population growth was spectacular.
