The educational policy of the Barcelona City Council and the Mancomunitat de Catalunya played an important role through the founding of teacher training colleges by the Mancomunitat and Summer Schools for teachers. Here, the teaching concepts of the New Schools were passed on. Advanced training was also provided to supply skilled staff to industry. The School of Local Administration, the Careers Guidance Institute, the School of the Applied Arts, the Commercial Studies School, the School of Nursing and the Knitwear School were all set up.
